I arrived in Vegas on Monday and played my first Venetian Deepstack on Tuesday….. I was feeling pretty jetlagged on the Monday (flight from Australia) and wasn't sure if I was gonna play or not, but woke up fairly early on the Tuesday and registered in the $350 tourney…..

For those that aren't aware, you can claim a 'free' gift with your tourney entry either a DSE T-shirt, hat or card protector….. I grabbed the card protector pretty cool as I was gonna look for one while I was in Vegas.

There were approx 719 runners in the tourney. This was my first live tourney since joining TPE and I gotta say I felt super sharp with my reads, shove spots, stack size awareness (this is super important to keep a track of espeically live, as online the work is done for you) to give you an example the big stack at my table was 3x his PFR @ 800/1600 level from MP and got shoved on from a guy directly on his left for a total of around 10K stack, the action folded back around to the big stack who then proceeded to tank/fold….. This big stack was the sort of guy who plays bad but runs like god, constantly calling OOP and then donk betting around 80-90% of the time…..surprised  Also saw alot of guys leaking chips with less the a 20BB stack i.e. PFR 3x or even 4x in size then folding to a shove and when I say less the 20BB stack, I mean probably closer to 10-15BB stack at times, some really obvious bad plays to be taken advantage of over some of these fields.

Overall I think I played really well….. Managed to double up to around 24K @ around level 3 or 4 with KK vs AK (my KK held)…. then lost a flip with AK vs QQ after I flopped a K but he flopped a set. Then for the majority of the rest of the tourney a was nursing/hovering around 20K, bleeding chips then picking shove spots as they popped up with with 15xBB stack as the levels were increasing. Made it to dinner with 19K, then after dinner @ the 1K/2K level lost a flip for approx 35K pot with AK vs 99 (his 9's held) which crippled me down to 4.5K (2xBB) and busted shortly after with J8 vs AQ I was out in around 120th place @ around 21:30.

I'll be playing Thursday's $350 and probably Sunday's $350 DSE if any TPE guys want to say hi, just let me know PM me or reply here. I probably register for Thursday's tourney sometime today (to avoid the lineup queue tomorrow) and will post my table/seat details then.

Cheers

Southpaw

Played the $350 on Thursday…… couldn't get anything going…. Basiclly card dead the entire session. I think i won maybe 8 pots all session, either took the pot down PreFlop or with a cbet on the flop. Never doubled up. Eventually got it it on level 400/800 with 66 vs AJ…… booomm ACE on the flop, gg Southpaw……. (started @ 12:00 and busto @ around 17:45)….. I really didn't manage to find too many good shove/3bet shove spots, it's really difficult to shove when you're constantly being dealt 82o/93o etc etc…. I really frustrating session when you feel like your game has really improved (thanks to TPE) and you stay patient thinking eventually I'll find a spot to double….. but no luck….

I'll be playing the $350 again tomorrow (Sunday)….

Got the chance to meet Cougars during Thursday's tourney!!!! He turned up with some TPE patches and a TPE shirt……sweet!!!!

GL to Hagbard & Cougars who are playing the 1K @ WSOP this weekend…..

I'm off to UFC 132 today!!!!

Busto in the Venetian $350 today…… Got some more playable cards this tourney then last tourney…. Felt like I was actually apart of the action today….

Busted out on the 200/400 level…. Kinda bummed with my busto hand…

Leadup:

Previous hand to my busto hand, I was on the button with around 18xBB's….. aggro big stack around (20K) had been opening every other hand makes it 950 and before he opened I thought to myself 'if this Euro opens again I'm jamming just about any 2 cards' sure enough he opens (from MP1) and it folds around to me, I have J8o and jam and everyone folds…….. and aggro folds….

Very next hand he opens again to 950 again it folds around to me, I have KQs I decide to jam and take the play away from him, rather the 3bet and give him an option….. it folds around to him and he calls and tables QQ, board runs out J834Q…. and I bust out…… I bit kamikaze from me, not really my standard approach…… but I tried to take a stand against him, rather then let him run over the table.

seems kinda standard given your read. i guess the one thing to note is that because you just 3bet jammed on him, his range for the next time he opens is probably going to be a bit tighter, but by the sound of it, it would still include a very wide range. just sucks you ran into a monster.

Tell about it….. sucks big time, as I only make this play with this hand in this spot against this guy….. anyone else @ the table I play it less aggressively….. oh well, onto the next tourney….
