    88 hand at around minute 50:00 when u (45bbs) b/c a lps (70bbs) 3b and the flop comes 7s 9h Ts.

It goes ch – ch and u say u expected him to have some kind of show down value since he would cbet his A3s type air hands 100% of the time. If u were in villains spot and u had either a similar semi-bluff type hand like A3s, 56s, and I guess the question pertains even if u had AK. Would u cbet on that flop?

There was a time when I thought (incorrectly, I believe now) the pf 3 bettor almost has an obligation to cbet almost any flop types. But this flop is pretty tricky. Good aggro players will ch/r this kind of flop often fr oop often w a variety of hands, right? I can’t think of too many hands Im gonna feel gd about if I get ch/r as the pf bettor here.

I guess my main question is, just bec he ch behind, does it really narrow his range at all?

the 88 hands at 38 minutes…a few thoughts: first off, i think the 3 bet is fine..it looks pretty strong in that spot being a utg +1 raise and a flatter…however, i think flatting is also fine as well to set mine…now, you say you plan on calling dan if he shoves…i really don’t like that…i just dont see the chip leader of a big tournament with a couple tables left shoving light and making a play like that…(even if super aggressive)he still has to worry about micha, in case he flatted preflop with a big hand…i think it would just be an absurd play if he shoved anything except a huge hand in that spot…for these reasons, i think flatting works better here…BUT, having said that…you played the hand perfectly post-flop…got absolute max value from micha…the check back on the turn clearly through him off, and the bet sizing on the river really did make it look like a bluff…well played..looking forward to next video

I think it does narrow his range for sure…He could have a hand like AK, AQ…could even have a hand like AA, KK…Or a random 3bet hand JTs that hit the flop…As I said I expect him to have something when he checks behind; I would def expect him to c-bet his “air” hands like A rag and 56s etc…

When Dan 1st opened I was planning on flatting but with the flat by micha there was enough in the pot to make it worthwhile to take it down pre and avoid playing a 3way pot with 88…I also felt that my “squeeze” may look “bluffy” and cause Dan to spazz out with a random hand…I was not going to 3bet fold a hand with such value…I was going to 3bet call off vs Dan or flat…Now of course if I 3bet and Dan shoves and Micha calls then it’s an easy fold and I regret 3betting…But I was happy with my decision (non-results oreintated) and think it is the best line with the stack size and tournament dynamics.

Late in the vid you flat AK to a button open 40 bbs deep. You say you don’t like 3betting because the button opener has tons of chips and might flat you. But you’re completely ignoring something great that can happen, which is that he is deep enough to 4 bet bluff you, and you can 5bet shove and pick up heaps of chips vs his bluffing range uncontested. Esp in a button vs blind confrontation, with him having so many chips, I’d expect him to be 4betting at least some of the time

I def did consider 3betting to give him a chance to “spazz”; but I decided to go with the lower variance flat at the time. 3 betting in this spot is def also a good option, my feel was that he was going to flat most of the time and not 4 bet and didn’t want to build a big pot out of position at the time; instead choosing to disguise the strength of my hand and hopefully have him bluff off a couple streets.
I would 3bet in this spot quite often depending on the table dynamics. Thanks for the comments,

at 4:20 with 55 UTG+1 given the stacks sizes behind you and specifically in the blinds, if you are not willing to call a shove from the shortest stack wouldnt it be better to fold pre? especially given the aggressive 3/4/5 betting dynamics you mentioned.
or do you expect it to get through everyone enough to be a profitable open?

    great series by the way
