    In the first example, you gave them a calling range of 18.7%, and then said that we get folds 81.3% of the time. But since there are two opponents, who each have a calling range of 18.7%, then don’t we only get folds 81.3%*81.3% = 66.1% of the time, which actually swings shoving to be about neutral EV?

    Yes, you are correct. Having 2 to act does effect how often we are called overall. We covered that a few minutes later when we opened up the spreadsheet because the formula is embedded in the there. It did swing it to a neutral spot. However, we estimated that the SB calling range would be tighter so it was 18.7% twice. We estimated that both calling ranges combined would be about 14% and went from there and it was a +EV spot.

    in the pot odds section. You said with a pot of $10 you face a bet of $5… was this implying the pot is 5 and villan bet 5 making the total pot 10? Because if the pot is 10 and villan bets 5 we are getting 3:1… no?

    I have downloaded the spreadsheet. I have excel and I am unable to open it. There are 3 folders plus one file and all are xml format. Any ideas?

    Attention brentd22. Question about your comment above. What did you mean by “save it to dogs”? I opened a new folder on my desktop and labeled it dogs. I got a google account with spreadsheet access. I tried unsuccesfully to import my desktop file into my spreadsheet. Can you offer any suggestions?

    I learned it just from using it. Not sure there is much help around it. The operation is pretty simple.

    Plugin opponents range, plug in your hand. Hit calculate. It doesn’t do a lot of stuff but what it does, it does perfectly.

    You can tweak things a little by removing certain suit combinations. The reason to do this would be if you wanted to weight a range. Say you think he sometimes shoves with AA but not always, you can remove a few combos of AA from his range by taking some suit combinations out.

    That’s more advanced and not really necessary for simple calculations.

    I already knew all the stuff in the video and have tons of calculations myself .. but nevertheless it’s a great video. I’m sure it’s a HUGE help for beginning players.

    Oh, and thanks for the spreadsheet .. it really saves a lot of time.

    For your calling shove sheet how are you calculating the pot odds? The formula in your excel sheet is {Effective stack/(hero stack + pot)}. I am confused about this formula. Shouldn’t it simply be {what we have to call/total we can win}?

    What a wonderful video. Question: In the first part, the number 187,060 which is Our stack if we shove, get called and win. I get 193,810 comprised of 103,655 plus 90,155 (90,905 minus 750,the ante posting before the action.
    Next question: How to arrive at our equity versus the villain’s range. K5s plus what?

    The calling range in the last situation is probably a lot different than his betting range. That makes your equity (when villain is calling your shove) less? Is this thought right?

    Good video guys.

    I went back to checking some of my math after losing the habit of doing it. I was just calculating a re steal and i have a question(might be a little stupid). Can someone explain two of the boxes in the spreadsheet.

    How often i am not called and How often i am called. Ie. (50:47 video)

    opener call is 6.0%

    How often i am not called is 82.35%

    Shouldnt How often i am not called be 94%?

    Like i say im probs missing somethign really simple but if someone could clear that up for me id appreciate it.

    What that number represents is how often he folds his opening range. It is 1 – (what range of all hands he calls your resteal with/what range of hands he opened with)

    So, in this example, we estimated that the villain is opening 34% of hands. But he’s only calling your resteal with 6% of hands. That means that he calls 6/34 which is 17.6%. That means he is folding 1-~17.6, or ~82.4% of the time.

    What we are doing is examining his opening range vs his 3 bet calling range.

    In the resteal hand villain 3x raises to 30000 but in your spread sheet the pot size is only 21500. So do you only count the size of the pot before the raise? I dont quite get why the pot isnt 51500.

    daikusan, I think they missed the 30k raise so yeah the pot size should be 51250, which makes it even more of an obvious reshove, but it’s only an example anyways. Where the penny hasn’t dropped with me is why we assume cos he’s 3x raised that his range is tighter. OK I assume some people want to juice the pot more with a better hand, but with AA, KK don’t we want to induce the call/shove so only 2x?

    Hi guys, excellent video by the way!

    But there´s something i´m not understanding… in the 3rd example you give, the hand where hero has ATo. Why does he have an equity of 31% against a range of 31.52% (the range of hands the villain has)? If we check in pokerstove, ATo vs 31,52% has an equity of 55,79%… i guess i am miss understanding something here…sorry for that … but i would like to know what it is 😉 tx a lot!
