KK hand at 38:00 … this is a spot marc and I talk a lot about. what do you think about checking back the flop since that board is so hard for him to have hit? We really do not fear any turns other than an ace, so maybe in position we give him a chance to catch up or to bluff turn?

It is an option. Honestly maybe against player like that (tighish/passive) it is the play and against any regular or more advanced player I would 100% C-bet this, because if I do check-back our opponent immediately knows that we do have some sort of showdown value, so this might stop him or any bluffs, unless he will decide to go our two barrels trying to fold out (22-77/ 99-TT / Ax’s).

I agree, great idea! I think he should also write in red what’s the “right” thing to do in each spot and then upload the slides also !! my 2 c

Thanks for the feedback. I think it isn’t necessary, because I did gave my personal opinion already how I would play those hands, when going through them. 🙂

Yeah I know Arvydas it’s true that you explain it during the video, but I actually think it is usufull because by doing that and uploading all the slides (and make them downloadable) at the end of the series you give people a list of mistakes (and corrections) that they can try to improve in their own game without having to re-watch all the videos…

It was really fun to watch this! I’ve been waiting quite a long time for this review, and I’m glad that players are liking it so far. I fully agree the slides at the end are very useful, and this is a good approach to the review.

Once again, thanks a lot Merfinis!

hey KB, I wanted to comment on this hand too and thought this was the best spot for it. Against regs in particular, when you get dry flops like that that only have one kind of draw that is lowered in potential because of the pair, I usually think of the flop as an extension of preflop action. As in, it’s so dry that there hand hasn’t been affected by it, and my range is usually a little scarier than their range, and because of that, I cbet all my hands here and in order to do that, I do it probably 1/3 like 500. It puts the reg in bad spots with Ace highs and low-mid pairs because they can autofloat and do, (which in my mind looks like we just raised preflop twice and got to the turn because the board is almost indiscernible in how it can help either of us, since there are a variety of hands that can connect, but not necessarily want to continue for multiple streets.) I’m sure you can do something different with regs that might broadcast a bit of your range in order to extract more value. I haven’t given it a ton of thought so I’m not sure.

I definitely understand the merits of allowing him to bluff turn, but is he bluffing turn? Like his range is pretty wide, so the only times I can see him betting turn as a bluff are him having a gutshot or something and deciding to stab, and some turns do make it more likely he has a straight draw…hmm. All the other times, I feel like he’s just not going to try. I’m not sure though.

Haha, I’m not sure enjoy is 100% the term I would use… It’s been… educational, but without question very tough to watch.

I do really appreciate the video though, and am very glad that players are liking it/learning from it.

I usually watch videos like these at 1.3-1.5x speed (I use VLC on my laptop and Dice Player on my tablet). This video it got up to 1.8x. So I guess I agree with you, but I had a feeling it had to do more with the numerous standard situations in this video.
