  1. MASTERHOLMES

the ending of part eight looked like the end until I saw the quick flash of part nine,, stack sizes which is what I was going to ask to be included in the next video.. I did learn a lot from this video.. especially in the positional dynamics.. and looking forward to part nine (as that is what I am focused on right now,, stack sizes)

  2. MASTERHOLMES

the 3bet/4bet example,, if we did 3bet ,, the king 4 suited would of folded most likely (or that range ) and we would of took down the blinds as opposed to playing for stacks,, is it a beginner mentality to shove rather then 3bet call a 4 bet shove ?

yes we want to keep worse hands in agaist this villain who has k4 in his 4bet shove range, and look to double with this stack size.

Great job man… Very good stuff and excellent presented… I’d like to ask you a question which lingers on for quite a while and i believe there is a big leak of my game hiding there… You’ve said on ch.5 – Positional dynamics to “avoid 3betting value hands mid – late stages in position where you’re not ahead of his 4 bet range”. If I am ahead of his raising range with AJ or 88, but i can’t profitably call because i’ll get bluffed of the best hand too often, isn’t it better to 3bet with these hands and pick up the pot when he folds and fold when he 4 bets(instead of folding right away)?..

i guess i’m replying way too late to get any discussion going….

    but spronks…
i can’t see any reason to 3bet-fold 88 as it has no blocker effects (i guess it could be ok if you expect villain to flat a lot with weak hands but that’s hardly ever gonna be the case).
with aj you do have blocker effects. but i am under the impression that very situation is different and the correct play depends on villain’s tendencies. that said, it would seem to me to usually be a waste of a value hand. If we can flat the open or 3bet-call we should do that.
Vs. some fish it prob makes sense to 3bet-fold (my guess…i’m not that good or anything).

    With regard to the video/series:
You don’t seem to analyse any spots with any rigour.
The ATo Btn vs CO open is the only hand you look at to illustrate any points in this video(I couldn’t even see the stack sizes!!! although you said we were 23 effective). In this example there is no mention of icm, no ev calculations and your justification is weak (“we see these sorts of shoves all the time” or something). So should i just take your word for it?

I guess i’ll follow your advice if you’re a good player (what follows is a dialogue between myself and I).
So what do i think, is he a good player? I dunno man.
Well….how can i tell? He has got “online winnings surpassing $1.5 million” written in his profile.
Yeah, but that doesn’t mean very much. What’s his profit? I dunno, it doesn’t say on his profile. They probably would have included it in his profile if it was something to boast about.
Right, and, in addition to that, variance in tournaments is so large that it’s entirely possible he just ran hot in some majors.
Yeah man, he definitely hasn’t got the credibility to just wave his hand at the (impossible to see) replayer and tell you to follow his advice.

I will persevere and hope the next video says something interesting or justified.
I wish there were some videos that focussed on very specific spots and analysed a few examples on the spot (e.g: a whole series on 3bet shoves).
