I enjoyed how you introduced the 1/3 stack betting rule to induce mistake and future shoves throughout the video.

But I found you didn’t elaborate enough on assigning a range to your opponents, and how to proceed to extract maximum value given his possible holdings.

For example, on the hand where you flop trips in the SB with 43s, I would often donk lead the flop in order to start building a pot and extract as much value (3 streets) from the weak aces of MoormanI.

If he’s got AK, and maybe AQ, your probably stacking him any line you take; but if he’s got a worst kicker, do you think that donk leading the flop is the line to take in order to extract the most value by the river ?

If you check-raise him he will be very suspicious; and if you just call, in order to get value on 3 streets, you are going to have to lead the turn because he will check behind his worst aces, and if you lead the turn he might think that it gave you a better two pair and be worried about his AQ,AJ,A10,etc.

I would like to hear your opinion about that.

Also, to anybody interested (after watching this video) in digging even more into Bet sizing and building a pot in general, you might want to have a look at the chapter named the Pot Size Philosophy in the book NoLimit Hold’Em: Theory and Practice by David Sklansky.

    Thanks for the video Wein.

    so agree with Awake’s comments!!!

I like the video, but Wein is basically teaching me to build the pot for a pot-or-less river shove. In some of the hands, Wein might be able to extract more if he don’t shove the river, even though is naturally to do so. And in the hands that he decides to check/raise, I would like to know why he believes the villain will bet for him.

I’d like to see a video that include ranging the villain’s hand to get max-value out of that range, instead of just building the pot to stack off. For example, if the villain’s range consist of very few strong hands, maybe betting 1/5th pot or check to induce bluff are better options.

In my opinion, this video is great for lower stakes where villains don’t hand read very well and stack off fairly light (TPTK). However, in higher stakes where villains are generally better and bluff more, extracting max-value out of medium strength hands and missed draws is better than build pot/auto-shove river. Sometimes you might miss value in semi-cooler situation, but those are few and far between.
