Hi everyone!  I’m new to Tournament Poker Edge, but I’ve been aware of the site for at least a few years.  I learned about it from the Thinking Poker Podcast, and have enjoyed TPE’s podcast as well…(which I would like to hear more of)

I’ve been a cash game player since about 2002 online until about 2010, when I switched to mostly live cash games.  Most of the time it was recreationally until I needed a little extra money for a couple of years from 2012-2013 where I played mainly at the casino, dogtrack, or horse track all close to my house.  I’ve been a constant student of the game, and always looking to improve.  I dabbled in Tournaments for fun, but at the time my hourly win rate was just better, and more reliable when I needed the money, Tournaments were few and far between.  I made a few final tables live, never winning, and a few online, with a couple of second place finishes at best.  So I’m still looking for my first tournament win.

Due to an awesome life changing event where I had a son, I walked away from Poker for almost two years.  (Day job was doing well). But, constantly missed playing.  I realize that I just don’t want to spend too much time away from my son, so cash game grinding of 8+ hours will be a rare occurance.  However, the occasional tournament I can make time for, so I’m looking forward to making the change.

Ive already noticed a few changes, skills, and tactics I’ve seen in some videos which differ from some of the strategies from Tournaments a few years ago, so I’m eager to learn.  I’m aware of the concept of ICM, but seeing how push, fold ranges change with different stack sizes is very interesting.  Im more of a post flop player due to my cash game background, so I’m curious to see how I can work some of the new concepts I’m learning in to my game.

Sorry for the long post, but I’m excited to be a new member.  I should have joined a while ago.

And, this may have not occurred recently, but a big Congrats to Carlos Welch for his big tournament win.  I’ve tried to follow his poker career since I first heard him on the Thinking Poker Podcast.

Thanks man!  I’ve been listening to you on the podcast for some time.  I’m happy to be a part of the TPE family.

On a side note, I just got second in an MTT turbo.  Still not that elusive win yet, but the videos here have really helped fix some of my Tournament leaks already.  Loving this site.
