when you say new…just how new are we talking?  That will help people give you some suggestions.  here are some vids that might be a good place to start:

Daryl jace on getting better as a poker player: …..er-player/

Hitthepanda on C-Betting:  …..c-betting/

An Intro to MTT Math:  …../mtt-math/

See How a Pro plays the early stages of a tourney:  …..dogpckt5s/

Those are some good places to start.  welcome aboard!!

Hi and welcome Killer!

If your a beginner, then you are probably playing small stakes mtts.

If so check out some of the small stakes stuff by Ttwist and Cougars4444, lots of good stuff.

Theory vids are also very good.

Learning about stack sizes, position, board texture, etc are key to good play. GL!

cool…just making sure you were not wanting to know if a flush beats a straight.  admit it, we all got this confused at one time or another in our learning  🙂

I strongly recommend watching the entire theory library from start to finish and taking notes, after that move on to live sweats focussing on early stages

I agree, I am new aswell, well not new to poker but the site, its always good/best to have a nice easy starting point for all new members, I mean Ive played for about 2 years now, I make a living but wish to make more in life rather than enough to get by. Plus it's always good to refresh old thoughts skills ect.

I look forward to more suggestions ITT from long time members! 😉

Also KB if you can PM me about how to get my avatar set up if you got a couple mins. 😉 be appreciated bud.

But seriously though…

If some one is new to poker as in they are just learned a flush beats a straight last week, where can they find some videos/quizzes to help with that?

Hello everyone, my name is Brenna and I am sort of new to poker, I started playing in January of 2014.  I decided I wanted to learn how to play poker and started reading books and joined tpe before I actually began playing…..  it has been interesting to compare when I started to now because I just started relistening to the podcasts from the beginning and they are making a lot more sense now…   the videos are great and I am looking forward to learning more from other members in the forums.

Hi! Finally took the plunge and jumped into the great tpe pool! Looking forward to learning as much as I can from some of the greatest players in the game today! I’m primarily a small stakes live mtt player w/some online play mixed in when I can (u.s. player).

I’m just barely on the winning side but I’m lookin to increase my edge and move up in live stakes especially. I have many leaks (mostly too passive) and hope to identify and rectify them. Follow me on Twitter (@microstakeshero).

Thanks!

Happy New Year!

@AceKiller81

Watching all theory first is best way, but it can also get little boring. So you may wanna mix it up with some “Hand History Review”. So you can see how pros on TPE are playing and try to relate the theory to the actual game.

“Bigdogpckt5’s Sunday Million Back to Back Win Hand History Review” series is good one to start for that. After watching first 2-3 parts of the series you will know where you stand in terms of difficulty level.

Sorry for the late reply (I’ve just joined), but where can I find the whole theory library in order from start to finish?

There doesn’t seem to be a TPE University called “Theory” and if I search all videos under “Theory” category I just get a seemingly randomly ordered list of all ~130 theory videos on the site?

Thanks!

Hi All – Joined the site today and have already watched 8 videos! Really keen to get better and improve my game, so hopefully I am at the right place!

I have recently started playing online for money in the last couple of months. Previously it was just with friends and the zynga app! I have spent the last couple months really studying poker and feel that I have came a long way but still have so far to go.

Here is my online profile: …..2.html?t=2

Things I am “OK” at (not too many things obviously :P)

  • Understanding table positions
  • Understand ranges based on positions

Things I really need to improve on:

  • CBetting
  • Reading my villains ranges / bluffs
  • Odds (in a quick way)
  • Getting trapped by villains
  • Lasting longer in tournaments
  • Blaming “luck” for the killer river card! Damn I hate loosing there, especially when I am 85-95% favourite!
  • Defending / attacking blinds

My Skype is Archiehbrooks – Feel free to add. I am always keen to pair up with people and review hands or get involved in sessions – if thats something the community does?

Look forward to stepping up and working with you guys!

Hi. My name is MicrostakesHero and I’ve been addicted to online poker for approximately ten years now. I’ve just recently decided to take charge of my poker life and re-subscribed to tournament poker edge. I’m hoping to learn how to stop punting stacks, being passive out of position and to train my brain to understand the term ”they always have it” when facing a large river bet.

Thanks
