I've been slow to update my blog, mostly because I've been playing so much poker and the holidays came about.  When you play poker so much you don't really do anything worth mentioning.  Sure I could say I made a few thousand buckaroos but anyone can make money.  When its live at least you have the chance of being on camera or sharing the experience of making money with others, online is a drag.

So to enhance my life experience I've volunteered for a couple of charities.  The first being a shelter for women on the rise.  I will be cooking healthy meals for about 15 women who don't have access to the healthy food they need to stay energized in a not so easy life style.  The goal on my end is to make cheap, healthy, and tasty food.  The other day I made chicken soup completely from scratch, it took a few hours to make but was fun and cheap, and was better than anything I've bought.  I think to make this project the most successful I have to call up a few supermarkets and ask them to donate some of the food products so I don't have to dust off $20 a day or whatever it will be.  I've always liked to cook, I'm very healthy, now this gives me a reason to stay on top of both games while helping others.

The second activity I've volunteered for is tutoring middle school kids in science and math.  I was fortunate enough to get a great education and got almost a perfect score on my math SATs…very much the opposite of my English scores.  Beating the SATs is pretty simple if you have a good game plan, which all revolves around logic.  I'm sure tutoring is a great learning experience as well as a real test of patience.  My mother and aunt were both tutor/teachers so I guess its in my blood.

A lot of poker players need something to do outside of playing poker.  I highly suggest volunteering somewhere as it will get them away from their awkward anti social tendencies.  Its not like they can commit the time to a real job, and probably don't want to get a part time paid rate…so might as well rack up that good karma and donate time.  Can you imagine how awesome our streets would be if instead of playing zombies on Call of Duty we worked to improve our community….we would be living in a utopia.

Awesome man good for you!! Charity is a good way to give back, help and at the end of the day be even more thankful than before for what you do have. The human mind has a tendency to focus on the negative and so the person will dwell on things they don’t have and in turn never be happy. Volunteering to help others will in the long run help you more than it does them. Keep up the good work.
