"Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end." – Seneca

I think I have recovered. The shock of Black Friday has passed. The sun still seems to be coming up every day and I'm playing poker again.

I made a $500 deposit on Carbon Poker in early May in hopes that I could occasionally fire up a tournament or two. To my surprise, the action has been pretty good. I've seen nearly 12,000 players online during peak hours and they have a respectable tournament schedule for starting up a new roll. Plenty of $2-$11 tournaments with decent structures.  The highest buyin I have been playing (with the exception of a misclick $11r registartion) is the $16.50 they run in the evening. Although I have had little success in it so far, I would also suggest hitting up the their nightly $3r as it usually gets about 500 runners which makes for a pretty nice payout on such a small site.

I have found the players on Carbon (Merge) to be really bad. If you thought UB/AP was soft, I encourage you to get an account on the Merge network! In my very first session I had a 1st and a 2nd place finish. The following evening I had another 1st and 2nd and there have been planty of deep runs to go along with those.

It's great that Official Poker Rankings is tracking Carbon now.  It's always nice to know where you stand. I'm currently ranked 455 of 7,511 (94%) with 121% ROI.  Always nice to double your roll in the first week of playing. I suspect the games will get a bit tougher as more players find their way to the site, but in the meantime I'm going to try and take full advantage of the soft fields.

It has also been great to see the chatroom starting to get some traffic again in the evenings. I try and jump in there every session I play, so come hang out and let's talk hands and sweat some fellow members to Victory.

I leave for Las Vegas in less than 3 weeks and could not be more excited. I've been playing a bit of cash and have been building up a decent roll to play some events if my backer opts to not put me in everything I want to play.  Ideally I'll get in at least 8-10 Venetian Deepstack events and a handful of the WSOP daily deepstack events.

As a reminder, make sure and follow me on Twitter so I can keep you all updated on the happenings in Vegas!
