I come to you this morning from my desk, more than half asleep but pretty happy. Sunday was a bit of a disaster, had huge expectations for myself and imploded a bit, so wasn't real happy about that. Decided last night that I was going to get back on the horse, focus on playing the way I know I am capable and see what happened. I don't tolerate crap play from myself when I know it is bad, so this was no exception. Time to cut bait and dominate. So what happened you ask. Let the Gman fill you in on what was a very very very long evening, with a bit of a happy ending 🙂

Fired up the session and started to add in some mid stakes stuff across the board, which I am really starting to get into. It feels good trying to move up, new challenges, new opponents, new situations. Ran really well in the $22 6max 500cap on Stars, ended up busting in 51st with 36 paying (wasn't happy about that part) which was pretty promising, given that I haven't played much there. I think I am adapting and my game is strong enough to hold tight and hang here. The fun happened again in my usual micro schedule. Had a great run in the Super Stack 15k that derailed a little at the end with some lousy luck, but was promising nonetheless. Mark my words, I will win that tourney in 2011. I will catch my unicorn and then ride that thing like a bull! I fired up the 1r Turbo on AP which is a nightly favorite of mine. The play there is very soft and I don't think I have ever been in for more than the minimum, which I love by the way! So anyway turns out that if you get a field that doesn't understand proper push/fold you can take a 5bb stack with 100 runners left and work it to an 8th place finish, which there is no way you should have earned. I think that AP is a great place for players to get comfortable with playing short and push/fold situation recognition. So with that I ended up bossing the Daily Double B to a 50 something finish which was pretty nice. But then, the piece de resistance, the Daily Dollar. I play the Daily Dollar every night I am playing. The prize pool and overlay are great. I think it teaches so much about large field play (typically has between 8500-9200 runners) and the value is incredible so it basically doesn't cost anything to take a shot at a good score and some valuable learning. So what did I learn last night…first it takes a trip to the FT to make any significant money in the tourney, but that isn't an impossible task. You can shove super wide on micro players late and get them all sorts of tilted because they want to play poker with 15bb stacks. The most important lesson I learned though is don't go for the FT if you have to get up early in the morning the next day. 9th place busto at 415am EST, need to be up and out for work 730am EST…not a good combination. But the score makes it all better 🙂 Well anyway I am going to back to work, this is the Gman signing out. May all your flushes be Royal!
