Here’s a recap of all the great things that happened at Tournament Poker Edge this week. We had everything from new pros to a 24 hour poker grind. Let’s jump right into the action.

Videos

TPE Theory: A Deep Dive into ICM by Cody Custer

https://www.tournamentpokeredge.com/tpe-theory-a-deep-dive-into-icm-part-1/

You may remember TPE member Cody Custer from a video he did with Marc Alioto a while back. He’s the latest “Bro to Pro” success story here in the Nation (name another site spitting out sickos like TPE…I’ll wait). He recently posted his first Theory vid on the Independent Chip Model (aka ICM). If you are transitioning to MTTs from cash, this is probably brand new to you so watch it several times. It is key to tournament success.

Final Table Bubble WCOOP Deep Run Hand History Review with Andrew Brokos

https://www.tournamentpokeredge.com/final-table-bubble-wcoop-deep-run-hand-history-review-with-andrew-brokos-part-3/

This is the conclusion of another critically acclaimed series by Andrew Brokos. I cannot say enough about the clarity of his teaching style. In this edition, he shows us how to play a short stack on the final table bubble. This video goes nicely with the one by Cody Custer because mastering short stack bubble play is all about understanding ICM.

$5r Hand History Review with Daryl “aaaaaaaa” Jace

https://www.tournamentpokeredge.com/5r-hand-history-review-with-daryl-aaaaaaaa-jace-part-3/

Daryl Jace concludes his latest hand history review this week. This is a 3 part series in which he ships a $5r. Jace does a great job at making you think about “standard” spots more rigorously than you are accustomed to. He asks you to watch the vids and then go into the chat section to respond to a question he has posed. I am stuck on the one where he askes “Under what circumstances do you need more or less implied odds for set mining?” Think you know the answer? Then swing by the comments section and share your thoughts.

Strategy

https://www.tournamentpokeredge.com/forum/mtt-poker-strategy/3-handed-ft-fold-akowtf/

This is a hand posted by BennyBills in which there is some debate as to whether ICM dictates that you should fold AKo as the chip leader three handed when both villains are all in.

Joesmoe88 posted this one asking what to do when you get check raised with a turned straight on a paired board.

This hand posted by Sprangle features some big stack on big stack violence when he opens KK from utg in 3rd place with 17 left and gets 3bet huge from the SB by the chip leader. Man, ICM seems to be the word of the week.

Poker Goals and Challenges

https://www.tournamentpokeredge.com/forum/poker-goals-and-challenges/24-hour-tpe-grind-session/

Killingbird had the brilliant idea to raise money for charity by putting in a 24 hour grind session complete with a Skype group video call, Teamviewer rail, and standing room only TPE chat. I snap committed. We were joined by a host of current and future TPE pros. I am afraid to name them for fear that I’d forget someone (yeah, it was that many). Unfortunately, these guys kept us so amped that the crack I bought to keep me awake for the session went unused (excuse me Noriega, what’s your return policy?). Both KB and I made it the entire 1440 minutes and had way more fun than should be allowed on a school night.

Site Announcements

The TPE nation continues to get stronger and this week was no exception as 4 new pros were picked up in the fantasy poker draft. They are Jarod Ludemann, Arvydas Merfeldas, Cody Custer, and Matthew Hunt. I cannot wait to see what these guys can bring to the family.
