Hey guys, I’ve been away from the internet for a while so this is a double edition of what’s new. We have a complete Hand history review from Hurricane Jeff and a new theory series from Daryl Jace. Oh and Big Dog chopped the Sunday Million twice and threw the Tuesday 1k in for good measure!

Daryl Jace writes an inspiring article about motivation and commitment. Seriously everyone needs to read it.

Hurricane Jeff brings us his first HH review video, the tournament is the lock 500 high roller and he takes us through every hand. Jeff talks about playing with and without a HUD and talks about how game flow and our expected edge affects our decision making. Jeff opens really wide and also defends very liberally which means this series is full of interesting postflop spots. In the first part Jeff builds up a monster stack and talks ranges alot. In part 2 we return to cover the money bubble as well as how to attack the table with a monster stack. Part 3 takes us through the final table bubble and his adjustments and reads at the final table. Jeff makes a lot of plays to exploit other tendencies and he makes some very good points about bet sizing and adjusting our ranges.

Daryl Jace is back with another Theory series! This time it is covering the maths of 3betting/4betting to determine how wide they need to be and how much we can 4bet jamming. It’s a pretty math heavy series and very interesting for those that are up to date on their reshove push/fold ranges but struggle more with 3bet/4bet jamming ranges. Part way through part 3 Daryl says this is ahead of the curve and that seems right on the money, not 4bet jamming correctly is a pretty fundamental leak in a lot of players games. Daryl also illustrates the relationship between their 3bet/call range, fold frequency, and our hands equity. He also finds some rather cool inflection points where a whole range of hands have the same equity when called. Part 3 covers the effect of blockers and also focuses on some magnitude effects, basically showing that blockers and equity when called become steadily less important the less frequently we are actually called. Great series for those that love their maths or that need a refresher or are intent on improving their preflop game. Throughout the series Daryl uses slice to solve for our equity and it’s a cool little program that trumps pokerstove.
