TPE Theory: The Mathematics of MTTs

Merby continues his series with some more in depth mathematics, part 4 delves into ICM calculations. He breaks them down into simple steps while clearly explaining the logic behind the calculations, he also shows how the more players involved the more tedious the equations become. He then introduces us to ICM calculations to work out $ values of relative stacks instantly, which makes things a lot easier although it is still important to understand the process behind the equation. In part 5 we learn to incorporate ICM values into the EV calculations that were covered earlier in the series. This allows us to compare decisions on a $ value basis rather than cEV basis which changes some decisions because of payout structures.  A very very good series that should be required viewing!

Pokerstars Canada Cup Win Hand History Review with DannyN13

Danny is back , this time with a review of his Canada Cup win! A $500 pokerstars tournament with the final table being played out live at the PCA.  Since Danny’s last series he has changed up his preflop sizing a bit, he now 3xs everything pre ante in non-turbo tournaments. This series involves a ton of preflop spots, with Danny spending most of the video discussing whether or not to open in a lot of spots and whether to 3b/c, 3b/c flat or just open fold when faced with an open in front of us. Every hand Danny opens he is good at determining ahead of time which stacks we calls off and which stacks we would fold to aggression from. The most interesting hand occurs where Danny flats a MP open with AJcc in position and raise/calls 30bb on a 533cc board. Towards the end of the video danny is building a decent stack which keeps him in a comfortable position. Part 2 has a few hands involving regs, a lot of players at his table are 3xing post ante with shallow effective stacks so Danny discusses adjusting and ranging. he picks a button shove from a reg with 17bb to discuss how this caps the opponents range and describes the range he assigns and his accompanying calling range.  A good series for those that struggle with their preflop ranges or want to find more 3bet/4bet spots.
